You are a family member or spouse of someone who works or studies temporarily in Canada
You may qualify for an open work permit if you are:
- The spouse of a skilled worker under National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill types 0, A, or B authorized to work in Canada for at least six months
- a spouse of someone applying for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program in a job under NOC 0, A, B or C
- A spouse of an international student attending a public post-secondary institution in Quebec, such as a college or university or a collèged'enseignementgénéral et professionnel (CEGEP) member of a foreign representative, or
- A foreign military member's family member who works in Canada
The following information must be attached to your application for an open work permit if your spouse holds an open work permit (e.g. a post-graduation permit).
- A letter from your spouse's employer verifying that your spouse works in a NOC 0, A, or B occupation, or a copy of your spouse's employment offer or contract, and
- Recent pay stubs from your spouse
The validity of your permit will not exceed that of your spouse's work permit.
Additionally, you must meet the general eligibility requirements.
