As long as you wait for the outcome of your permanent residence application, you can work under a bridging open work permit.
You may qualify if you applied to one of the programs listed below-
- Permanent residence using Express Entry
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
- Caring for children class or caring for people with high medical needs class
- Home Child-Care Provider Pilot or Home Support Worker Pilot
- Agri- food pilot
- Quebec skilled workers
Who can apply for a BOWP-
You must meet one of the following requirements:
- reside in Canada (excluding Quebec)
- or
- hold a valid work permit
- even if your permit has expired but you maintain your employment status
- in which case you can restore your status and receive a work permit
- as the primary applicant for your permanent residence application
- provided that you have submitted a complete application and passed the completeness check
- and received an acknowledgement of receipt from us
- We will send this letter to your account once we receive your permanent residence application
