Canada's westernmost province is British Columbia. This stunning coast and rocky mountain backdrop make BC one of the most popular destinations on earth. There are over four million people living in the province.
In British Columbia, the Provincial Nomination Program (BC PNP) is intended for those individuals who will live and work in BC and become permanent residents of Canada through a provincial nomination. The government of their province provides support for their application for federal permanent residency, which makes the process easier for them. The points-based immigration system is divided into three categories: skills immigration, Express Entry BC, and entrepreneur immigration.
There is an eligibility requirement for each category and different sections within each category. Qualifications, experience, income, work experience, skills, and status as an international student are all considered in addition to these criteria.
Skills Immigration
If you meet one of the following requirements, then you can apply for the BC PNP under skills immigration. There are general requirements and eligibility requirements for the various categories, while your employer (where applicable) must ensure that they satisfy the general employer requirements for their company.
Skilled Worker - Applicants in this category must have a job offer from a BC employer for a skilled job. NOC 0, A, or B require a minimum of two years of work experience.
Medical Professional -This category is for health care professionals working in BC in one of the 11 health care occupations that qualify. Experience must be obtained within the same field for a minimum of two years. Applicants must be physicians, nurses, or other health professionals.
International Graduate - Students who have recently graduated from an eligible Canadian institution of higher learning and who have a valid employment offer in the province of British Columbia in Node 0, A or B are eligible to apply for this category.
International Postgraduate - This category includes students who have completed a master's or doctoral degree from an eligible institution in British Columbia in the fields of natural, applied or health science. The applicant does not need a job offer to apply.
Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Worker - Under this category are entry-level and semi-skilled workers employed in tourism, hospitality, food processing, or long-haul trucking; or individuals working and living in the northeast development region of British Columbia. Work experience requirements vary by occupation.
Entrepreneur Immigration
In this stream, individuals who are willing to manage or expand a business in BC in order to create jobs are able to obtain permanent residence. Under the Entrepreneur Immigration Stream of the BC PNP, employers seek experienced entrepreneurs who are willing to contribute to economic development and innovation.
